A
great number of students studying at our
university continue their studies in Kayseri, with remaining in Nevþehir and
Yozgat. There is a dining hall for 2500
students at the university campus. Moreover,
two dining halls for 400 and 600 students in
Yozgat and one for 250 students in Nevþehir
are needed. The menu is prepared by
specialist lecturers and dietitians and is
served to students throughout the academic
year between 11.00-13.00.The meals are
nutritious, warm and satiable. The students
are charged a fee for a three meal course
and the rest of the cost is covered by the
Students Social Service Fund.
Besides these catering facilities
mentioned above, there is a central canteen
and faculty canteens, restaurants and pastry
shops where students are regularly served
tea, coffee, soft drinks and various dishes
in hygenic and healthy. Shopping facilities
such as bookstores, barbers and a grocer are
also available for our students in
University Foundation Market.
| ACCOMODATION
AND STUDENT DORMITORIES |
A great number of students attend
their education in the Kayseri area, with
some of them studying in faculties, colleges
and vocational colleges in Yozgat and Nevþehir.
Students
can live in the following dormitories.
Erciyes Male Students Dormitory, which is
quite close to campus with a capacity of
1450 beds, and the Gevher Nesibe Women
Students’ Dormitory with a capacity of
1300 beds belonging to the Credit and
Dormitories Institution. There are also some
private and foundation dormitories that can
provide accommodation for students. These
dormitories are controlled and observed by
both City Youth Board and the University.
In
Yozgat, there is a male student’s
dormitory with a capacity of 472 beds and
another for girls dormitory with a capacity
of 459 beds.
In
Nevþehir there is dormitory for male
students’ with a capacity of 95 beds and
the other for female students
dormitory with a capacity of 119 beds The
majority of the students prefer to be
accommodated in dormitories while the others
stay at student hostels or flats.

STUDENT DORMITORY |
(Demir
Karamancý Complex)
Successful senior students who study
in the faculties or four year vocational
colleges are accommodated in single suit
rooms in the Demir Karamancý Science
Complex.
Library
is in use at two locations; Library blocks
and Sabancý Culture Site.
Students
can also make use of the libraries
at the Faculty of Theology, The
Faculty of Engineering , the Faculty of
Economics and Business Administration, the
Faculty of Science and Literature, Yozgat
Vocational College and Nevþehir College of
Tourism and Hotel Management.
The
majority of the required publications for
the libraries are provided from the central
unit under the coordination of the chairman
of the Library and Documentation.
Kadir
Has, the famous benefactor and businessman
from Kayseri, is building ‘Kadir and Rezan
Has Library’ to bring all library
facilities together. The building will be
the biggest library in the Middle East is
planned to be opened in 2000.
Students
who apply to Medico-Social Health Center are
given medical treatment for a small fee. If
tests are carried out at this center dictate,
patients needing treatment beyond the
capacity of this facility are sent to the
Gevher Nesibe Hospital of the university.
From time to time, the patients depending on
his condition may also be sent to hospitals
of neighbouring universities.
The
students with dental problems are also
treated in the dental unit of the Medico-Social
Health Center. Some services provided
include tooth pulling, cavity filling, and
canal treatment are provided for our
students.
Some
of medical tests are done at the Medico-Social
Laboratory. However, when necessary,
students are able to receive an injection.
Those students who face an emotional, social,
educational, or vocational problem are given
advice by the Psychologic Advice and
Guidance Unit.
Medicines can be purchased from any
pharmacy which has a contract with the
university. The costs of medical treatment
for students whose parents are members of a
social insurance plan are covered until the
student reaches age of 25. Under this plan
students are required to pay 10% of the
prescription costs.
Services
presented with three Hewlett Packard Net
server LPr PII/450 at the Data Process
Center of Erciyes University. The first
server is used as a Web server, the second
as a Mail server and the third as a Firewall
software.
The
Data Communication Web the
University and the works of
structural indoor cabling have been
completed. the communication of all the
Faculties, Vocational Colleges, Research
Centres and Units is provided both
interactive and worldwide at the Centre.
Internet link has been provided for all the
staff rooms and students laboratories. The
number of data input links has increased to
1300 up to August 2000 at the university.
E-mail service is currently provided for the
students of the university.
The
university aims at having all sorts of web
facilities and their infrastructures needed
for this purpose are
in progress through Data Process
Centre.
The students who have accommodations
at the Male and Female
Students’ Dormitories of the Credit
and Dormitories Institution can commute
to and from the university campus by
Talas Municipality and Kayseri
Metropolitan Municipality public
buses.
The students who live in the city
centre can travel to and from the university
campus by Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality
public buses or private student bus services
from all districts of the town.
There is a post office offering
services on Campus. Students have the
opportunity to make phone calls from various
places on the university campus. Students
can also mail a letter and pay their phone
bill.
Türkiye
Ýþ Bank and Vakýf Bank have branches on
campus. Ziraat Bank, Vakýf Bank, Türkiye
Ýþ Bank and Yapý Kredi all have ATM’s
serviced for
all the staff and students.
