KOCASINAN
VOCATIONAL COLLEGE
The
college was founded in the 1997-1998 Academic Year
with the carpet - weaving programme. The carpet-weaving
programme, which carried out the first year lessons
in Kayseri Vocational college, beginning with the
1998-1999 academic year was moved to the school
building together with the Textile Programme that
worked under the management of the same college for
six years.
As
a result of the research and assessment which was
carried out in the region, the carpet weaving
programme proved that rugs,
as much as carpets, show characteristics and
differences. Therefore, with the admission of rugs
into the curriculum, its name was changed to
‘Carpet-Rug’ the next year. During their
education, the students learn to use the weaving
types; carpet-rug, light-rug, zili and sumach
techniques one by one or several together, and to
identify the materials which are used.
In
the textile programme which is diverged into two
branches in the second year, students are given
joint vocational lessons to
form textile’s base during the first year,
whereas applications are carried out in computer,
physics and chemistry laboratories. Students
of Dye Technology investigate dyes and techniques
that should practically be
applied to materials like cloths and fibers, and
learn about dyeing methods of various dyestuffs,
application techniques of dyed material
tests and laboratory color studies on different
materials. Apart from application studies, students
technically learn about dyeing machines and dyeing
with natural stuff. Thus, they are shown a wide
perspective by comprehension of a dyeing technique
and the possibility of dyeing techniques for other
kinds.
Through
education, students in the Computer Assisted Design
Programme interrogate and examine the design
concept and improve themselves by means of
remarkable practices. They have the ability of
understanding the contemporary
technology and applying their designs to computer
medium. After analyzing Kayseri and its
surroundings, it is understood that although
the city has a high potential it lacks qualified
personnel and our college responds to this
requirement by training students in graphic design.
Students study design principles, basic art
concepts, computer hardware and the usage of
softwares, photography and graphic design and are
trained in application workshops as well as
computer assisted design laboratories.
Graduates
can be employed in enterprises that develop graphic
adjustments, and industrial products that conduct
animation activities as well as textile
sector.
