Medical Imaging Techniques Program
In this program, the Health Technician needed by the physi-
cian is educated for the studies carried out for the use of X-
rays in the diagnosis and treatment of the disease. Health
Technician is the healthcare personnel who prepare the pa-
tient for the examination according to the instructions given
by the physician, display the whole or part of the body with
ionizing or non-ionizing rays, and make the films and images
of the patient ready for use.
The duties of Health Technicians working in this field are as
follows; conducting all diagnostic examinations related to the
imaging of the human body using ionizing and non-ionizing
radiation, using radiopharmaceutical agent, performing all
necessary organ scintigraphies and positron emission imag-
ing procedures, getting the imaging devices ready for use,
monitoring their routine maintenance and ensuring their
regular work, making all the necessary preparations for the
examination, preparing the patient for the examination, in-
forming, ensuring the viewing baths, placing them in the files,
writing the patient’s information, delivering the film reports
to the relevant unit.
Medical Imaging Techniques educating is two years at asso-
ciate level. The first year is theoretical lessons and the sec-
ond year is mostly given education. Students complete their
hands-on educating at Erciyes University Radiology Depart-
ment, Nuclear Medicine and Radiotherapy Units.
