NANOTECHNOLOGY APPLICATION
           AND RESEARCH CENTER
           (ERNAM)

tremely liquid repellant and multi-functional surfaces for use
in a great variety of applications that range from self-cleaning
           solar cells to anti-icing aircrafts.

Plasmonically active substrates: ERNAM researchers are pursu-
ing fabrication of plasmonically active solid substrates for ap-
RESEARCH CENTERS enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) based detection of trace
plications in sensing, catalysis, biotechnology, solar cells and
optoelectronics devices. A particular focus involves surface-

amounts of molecules down to single entities showing great
promise for areas, including food safety, point-of-care diag-
           nostics, and anti-counterfeiting.
Nanocatalysis: The researchers at ERNAM have strong exper-
tise in the synthesis and characterization of hybrid nanoma-
terials for catalysis applications. The materials that are inves-
tigated for this research range from 2D materials to semicon-
           ductor nanoparticles.

Energy storage systems: The importance of rechargeable lith-
ium ion batteries has significantly increased with the domi-
nance of our lives with electronic devices. The research in ER-
NAM seeks for lithium ion batteries with high energy density,
long life time and rapid charge-discharge rates. The current
efforts focus on nanostructured materials for supercapacitor
           applications.
Nanofabrication: Patterning of structures with nanoscale di-
mensions on surfaces is key to fabricate nanoelectronic and
nanooptic devices, and to study structure property relation-
ships. Researchers at ERNAM explore the use of high resolu-
tion printing techniques to pattern a broad range of nanoma-
           terials in an additive manner.
Nanomedicine: ERNAM has strong interest in medicine appli-
cations of nanotechnology. The current efforts include nano-
structured materials for drug delivery, materials and systems
for focused ultrasound based therapeutic technologies and
           SERS based diagnostics.
The center sits on a total area of 2000 m2 of which constitutes
from laboratories (1200 m2) and office spaces. ERNAM has
