International Project Support from Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA)-USA to Prof. Dr. Alparslan YILDIRIM
The research project, called ““Development of National Policies and Strategies for Mosquito Control and Public Health Systems of Georgia, Turkey, and
Ukraine” with a reference number “GRANT13230496”, which was prepared within the framework of cooperation with the University of Florida/UF-USA,
Lugar Center for Public Health Research / NCDC – Georgia, Public Health Center of the Ministry of Health /PHC – Ukraine and ERU Vectors and Vector-
borne Diseases Research and Application Center (ERVEK), and in which Prof. Dr. Alparslan YILDIRIM, a faculty member at the Department of Parasitology,
Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Director of ERVEK, acted as a PI, has been deemed appropriate to be supported with a total budget of approximately three
million dollars by the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA)/USA. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Osman İBİŞ, a faculty member at ERU Faculty of Agriculture and a
researcher at Genome and Stem Cell Center in our University, and İbrahim SÖZDUTMAZ, a faculty member at the Department of Virology, Faculty of
Veterinary Medicine, acted as Co-PIs.
In addition, on the Turkish side of the project, the following faculty members of Erciyes University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine who also work at ERVEK
center; Prof. Dr. Abdullah İnci (Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine), Prof. Dr. Önder DÜZLÜ, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zuhal ÖNDER, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Arif
ÇİLOĞLU, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Emrah ŞİMŞEK, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ayşe GENÇAY GÖKSU, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zafer PEKMEZCİ, a faculty member at the
Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Ondokuz Mayıs University, took part in the project.
