1. PURPOSE
The purpose of this policy is to provide information about the privacy issues and the use of cookies on the websites of Erciyes University.
2. SCOPE This policy covers visitors and users who will access the websites of Erciyes University. Erciyes University, as the Data Controller, is responsible for the implementation of this policy.

4. GENERAL EXPLANATIONS Our university has adopted the principle of protecting the privacy of those who visit the websites. In this context, we take the necessary measures to comply with the KVK Law and Board decisions in order to process personal data in accordance with the law. In addition, while preparing the regulations within the scope of this policy, the provisions of the European Union General Data Protection Regulations (“GDPR”) were also used. However, it should be noted that despite all the measures taken, 100% security cannot be ensured in the internet environment. We would like to inform you about which information about users is processed and used by our University. The current version of the Privacy and Cookie Policy can be viewed on this page. If you accept the relevant text on our website, you declare that you have read all the conditions written in this "Policy", that you have been informed about the processing of your personal data, and that you accept the processing of your personal data within the scope and purposes determined.
5. FUNCTIONING OF COOKIES Cookies are cookies that are sent to your browser when you visit a website and can be used on a computer, tablet, mobile device, etc. are text files containing small amounts of information stored on your devices. Cookies can be used jointly between websites with the erciyes.edu.tr extension.
     5.1. What Are Our Purposes of Using Cookies? , We use cookies to ensure your security during your visit to our websites, to maximize your user experience, to provide you with personalized content that best suits your preferences, and to monitor our own performance. At the same time, we use cookies to improve the presentation of our University's services, features, functions, and website, as well as for various purposes. There are redirect links to different websites and social media accounts on the websites of our university, and third-party software components downloaded in the background are used on user devices without clicking any link. Such components may leave cookies on user devices. You can see the cookies left by these components from your web browser. The current security policies of the web pages linked from our university's websites and third party software components can be viewed on the web pages of the relevant components.           5.2.1. Session Cookies Session cookies are temporary cookies that are used for users to perform their transactions securely on the website after logging in to web automations and are deleted after the browser is closed.

Clarification Text on the Protection and Processing of Personal Data


We, as Erciyes University (“University”), are extremely sensitive to the safety of your personal data. From this point of view, we attribute much importance to the processing and protection of all kinds of personal data belonging to all individuals associated with the University in accordance with the Law No. 6698 on the Protection of Personal Data (“LPPD”). With a full comprehension of this responsibility, in order to fulfill our legal liability by our University as “Data Controller” defined within the scope of the Law on PPD, personal data can be processed within personal data processing conditions and aims specified in the Articles 5 and 6 of the Law No. 6698.

1) For What Purposes Personal Data will be processed

Personal data are collected for the purpose for which they are processed and set forth in the relevant legislation, and stored throughout the legal period.

Your personal data can be used for the purposes of;

  • Conducting and developing the business and academic processes of our University and taking advantage of these services within the scope of educational activities,
  • Fulfilling the obligations regarding educational activities and audit and other obligations imposed by the Higher Education Law and the Council of Higher Education (CoHE), maintaining activities of education &teaching, scientific research, publication and consultancy, establishing the rights arising from educational activities within the scope of higher education legislation and internal regulations of the University, producing and printing identity cards and carrying out various academic and administrative procedures,
  • In line with the purpose of conducting personnel policies of our University; conducting operations, providing suitable personnel for vacant positions, fulfilling obligations and taking necessary measures within the framework of occupational health and safety and the Labor Law, Social Security Law and other legislation regulating business life,
  • Within the framework of contracts or activities conducted with third natural or legal persons who are in business relations with the University; in order to carry out legal and commercial obligations, fulfilling obligations arising from the contracts made by the University with business partners/customers/suppliers, establishing the rights, protecting the rights, commercial and legal evaluation processes, conducting financial affairs,
  • Carrying out necessary studies by the relevant units for you to benefit from the services of our University, communicating with you through the communication channels you have shared with us, introducing our University and its activities, enabling the relevant people to benefit from the products and services offered by the University, providing the enrollment into the University and its continuation, protecting the safety of life and property of university students /employees /visitors, fulfilling the requirements or demands that legal obligations, judicial bodies or competent administrative bodies require. The data can be processed to perform activities such as archiving for the purpose of fulfilling legal obligations in electronic or physical media to carry out the aims mentioned here by taking necessary security and legal measures.


2) To Whom and for What Purposes the Processed Personal Data can be Transferred

Within the framework of personal data processing conditions and purposes specified in the Articles 8 and 9 of the Law No. 6698, your personal data collected can be transferred to business partners, to legally authorized public institutions such as the Council of Higher Education, SSI, Ministries, judicial authorities, to the consultants, establishments, parties, contracted organizations, payment systems organizations that are cooperated in cases permitted by the legislation; for the purposes of maintaining educational activities at the University, ensuring the legal and commercial security of our University and those who are in business relations with our University, ensuring the physical security and supervision of the internal and external locations of the University facilities and buildings, carrying out legal compliance processes, fulfilling financial affairs, determining and fulfilling the commercial and business strategies.

3) Method and Legal Reason for Collecting Personal Data

Your personal data are collected through written/digital applications made on the websites of our University, social media, call center, printed form, scanning of judicial records, SSI records, PTT, your browsing movements on the website, channels through which our University communicates with you or will communicate with you in the future, and stored throughout the legal period. Personal data collected for the legal reasons stated above can be processed and transferred for the purposes specified in articles 1 and 2 of this Clarification Text within the scope of personal data processing conditions and purposes specified in Articles 5 and 6 of the Law No. 6698.

4) Rights of Personal Data Owner Listed in the Article 11 of the Law No. 6698

As personal data owner, in the event that you submit your requests regarding your rights to our University using the methods stated below, our University will conclude your request free of charge as soon as possible within thirty days at the latest, depending on the nature of the request. However, if the transaction requires an additional cost, the fee in the tariff determined by the Personal Data Protection Board will be charged by our university. In this context, personal data owner has the following rights;

  • to learn whether his/her personal data are processed or not,
  • to request information as to if his/her personal data have been processed,
  • to learn the purpose of processing of his/her personal data and whether these personal data are used in compliance with the purpose,
  • to know the third parties to whom his/her personal data are transferred in country or abroad,
  • to request the rectification of the incomplete or inaccurate data, if any, and to request the notification of the operations carried out within this scope to the third parties to whom his/her personal data have been transferred,
  • to request the erasure or destruction of his/her personal data in the event that the reasons for the processing no longer exist despite being processed in compliance with the Law No. 6698 and other relevant provisions of law, and to request the notification of the operations carried out within this scope to the third parties to whom his/her personal data have been transferred,
  • to object to the occurrence of a result against the person himself/herself by analyzing the data processed exclusively through automated systems,
  • to claim compensation for the damage arising from the unlawful processing of his/her personal data


Pursuant to the Paragraph 1 of the Article 13 of the Law No. 6698, you can send your request regarding the use of your above-mentioned rights to our University in writing or by other methods that the Personal Data Protection Board has determined. Since the Personal Data Protection Board has not determined any method at this stage, you need to send your application in writing to our University in accordance with the Law No. 6698. Within this framework, in the applications you will make within the scope of the Article 11 of the Law No. 6698, channels and procedures you will submit your application in writing are explained below:

In order to use your rights stated above, you can submit your request to claim your rights which are specified in the Article 11 of the Law No. 6698 with a complete and signed copy of the Information Request Form Pursuant to the Law on the Protection of Personal Data (LPPD) on Erciyes University Web Site with the related information for your identification to the following address: “Erciyes Üniversitesi Rektörlüğü Yenidoğan Mahallesi Turhan Baytop Sokak No:1 38280 TALAS / KAYSERİ / TÜRKİYE”, in person, by notary or by other methods specified in Law No. 6698 or you can send the relevant form to erciyesuni@hs01.kep.tr with a secure electronic signature.
