         ACADEMIC STAFF
         Based on the number of academic staff members, the Faculty
         of Medicine is one of the leading faculties in Turkey. There are
         919 teaching staff members, consisting of 161 professors, 48
         associate professors, 59 assistant professors, 24 lecturers, five
         specialists, and 627 research assistants.
         FACILITIES
         Teaching is carried out in a variety of classrooms within two dif-
         ferent complexes. First, second, and third-year students study
         in amphitheatres in Central Classes – where there is also a con-
         ference room for 500 students and an internet café - whereas
         fourth and fifth-year students study at the Clinical Sciences
         Complex. This complex consists of eight classrooms, an inter-
         net café, cafés, and reading rooms. In addition, a lab complex
         (Microbiology, Medical Biology, Medical Genetics, Pathology,
         Histology-Embryology), renovated and furnished with state-
         of-the-art equipment, serves students together with a com-
         puter lab containing 80 computers. All classrooms and labs
         have  internet  access  and  audio-visual  equipment.  With  an
         area of 450 square meters, the Medical Skill Lab provides first
         through third-year students with the opportunity to study on
         models in the pre-clinical education phase. Conferences, sym-
         posia, and workshops are held every year in addition to scien-
         tific meetings on special days and weeks. A Quadro telecon-
         ference system over ISDN exists in the conference room of the
         Gevher Nesibe Hospital. All operating rooms are connected to
         this teleconference system in order to provide students with
         the opportunity to observe operations synchronously.
         ACTIVITIES AND INSTITUTIONS WE COOPERATE WITH

         Erciyes  University Medical School consists of five  hospitals,
         one Central Lab, the Hakan Çetinsaya Experimental and Clini-
         cal Research Center, and the Good Clinical Practice Center. In
         addition to these facilities, the following were constructed by
         local contributors: the Semiha-Asım Kibar Transplantation and
         Dialysis Hospital, the Mehmet Kemal Dedeman Haematol-
         ogy and Oncology Hospital, the Yılmaz and Mehmet Öztaşkın
         Heart Hospital, the Mustafa Eraslan and Fevzi Mercan Chil-
