the first year, the classical system is applied, whereas in the
second year an integrated system is applied. In the first three
years, basic medical education (theoretical knowledge and
laboratory applications) and an introduction to clinical studies
are provided. These studies are enhanced in years four and
five by clinical experience with patients.
Students completing clinical apprenticeships proceed to year
six for an internship. Clinical and practical applications are
focused on in year six. Training periods, especially in Public
Health Education, are given partly in the institutions of Melik-
gazi Municipality and partly on our own premises. In the 2007-
2008 academic year, interactive, mandatory apprenticeships
of the “Pragmatic Use of Drugs” began, in addition to existing
ones, for fifth-year students.

In order to standardize educational facilities, accreditation
studies and questionnaires for academic evaluation and qual-
