• Soil Science and Plant Nutrition
Education and research are carried out on the subjects of soil
chemistry, soil physics, soil degradation, soil conservation,
soil-plant-water analysis, soil microbiology, environmental
pollution, reclamation of saline-alkaline soils, plant nutrition
and fertilization in pasture and forage crops. The depart-
ment has a modern and scientific education mission with its
academic staff who have success both in national and inter-
national areas. A soil scientist is the person who interprets the
soil and the data related to the soil, not only in terms of ag-
ricultural production but also considering how it affects the
environmental quality and human life. The academic staff cre-
ates solutions to agricultural and soil problems, primarily on a
regional, country bases and in the world, with a respectful and
valued perspective on people and nature. The aim the of de-
partment is to explain to students the importance of soil, en-
vironmentally sensitive management practices, and conserva-
tion of natural resources, which is a necessary vital resource.
The students are also able to work in the private sector and
related public institutions after their graduation.
