Meeting on the “Sociological Developments in Society”

A meeting on the “Sociological Developments in Society” was held at the Senate Hall of our university with the participation of AK Party Kayseri Deputy Ayşe Böhürler and our Rector Prof. Dr. Fatih Altun.

Our Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Oktay Özkan and Prof. Dr. M. Hakan Poyrazoğlu, and academics of our university who do research on sociology and conduct various studies in this field attended the meeting.

Making the opening speech of the meeting, our Rector thanked Deputy Ayşe Böhürler for her visit to our university and said: “The effort of our deputy is greatly appreciated. We organize various programs, hosted by our university, together with our deputy. We invite doyens in their fields and hold interviews. At today’s meeting, we came together to discuss the reasons of changes in the social structure upon the request of Ayşe Böhürler.”

Emphasizing that academic cooperation was needed in determining the strategies, Deputy Ayşe Böhürler said that the academics who research well-known thinkers made many observations and assessments, such as the elevated level of the restructuring of human beings in many fields as a result of the development of health technologies, including human, the protection of human beings, their gender, the dominance of technology, the differentiation of values, the loss of the importance attributed to the concept of value, and disruptions due to the communication in the global world.

She stated that Erciyes University had a very important place in evaluating all processes and contributing to the definition of the new era by providing data, and said: “Significant studies are conducted at this university.”

At the meeting where questions, “What can we do in this new age? What can we produce as a collective mind? How can we keep our social structure stronger? are answered, Deputy Ayşe Böhürler and our Rector exchanged views with the academics about the studies conducted at ERU concerning the social change of the society, its effects on families, children, women, and men, and the prevention of the harms of this change.
