Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır and Türkiye’s First Astronaut Alper Gezeravcı came together with our students

Kayseri is the current stop of Türkiye’s first astronaut Alper Gezeravcı, who travels from city to city and shares his experiences about space travel.

Meeting with our students at Erciyes Cultural Center together with Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır as part of the event organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Industry and Technology and Erciyes University, Alper Gezeravcı shared his knowledge, experiences and observations with the students.

Addressing the young people at the event called, “Young People meet”, hosted by our university, Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır said that he was happy to come to Kayseri, and added: “You are the owner of the national technology initiative. We always include Turkish youth in the Technofest generation in the center of every project and program we implement in the national technology initiative journey under the leadership of our President because we believe that Turkish young people have the ability and competence to achieve the best missions in the world in their fields if the obstacles in front of them are removed and we support them. They have proved this. The gains from the national technology initiative for the last 22 years, and Türkiye’s journey to become a country that develops, produces, and exports critical technologies to the world with its own means have all been thanks to young people like you. This is very valuable because innovative technologies transform the world.”

Governor of Kayseri Gökmen Çiçek thanked Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır for coming to Kayseri together with Alper Gezeravcı and said: “When Alper Gezeravcı went to space, concepts such as universe, galaxy, and speed of light was again at our agenda. We have been thinking about space again and again since that day. It is very valuable for us to see you here 41-42 days after your return. Thank you so much.”

When Governor Çiçek expressed that the students had a request from Minister Kacır saying: “We want a Technofest organization in Kayseri”, the participants applauded enthusiastically.

Our Rector expressed that he was pleased to welcome Alper Gezeravcı at our university and continued as follows: “As Erciyes University, we have always aimed to be among the respected universities to contribute to the development of our country. We, as Erciyes Technopark, are conducting effective research with the support of our Minister. Technology Development Zone-1 has completed its development with nearly 300 companies. We continue to carry out our activities at the Technology Development Zone-2. We have made a significant progress especially in construction. I would like to thank Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır for his support.”

When Alper Gezeravcı was on the stage, the students welcomed him with enthusiasm.

He chatted with the students, gave them advice, and answered the questions about space.
