Award to Prof. Dr. Aykut Özdarendeli from TÜBA
Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA) Covid-19 Global Outbreak Special Awards found their owners. Within the scope of awards, Prof. Dr. Aykut Özdarendeli, Director of the Vaccine Research, Development and Application Center of our university, was deemed worthy of the Special Award in the field of Treatment and Protection
A national award program was constituted by the TÜBA Academy Council for the years 2020-2021, for which the researchers developing unique methods and products for all stages from diagnosis to treatment in the fight against Covid-19 global outbreak and also the scientists working in the field of basic health sciences could apply.
Within this scope, “TÜBA Covid-19 Global Outbreak Special Award”, which was prepared by TÜBA to encourage, support and honor scientists who became prominent with their high-quality scientific studies on the Covid-19 global outbreak that affected the whole world, was constituted.
As a result of the studies of the Award Assessment Committee, Prof. Dr. Aykut Özdarendeli was awarded the “TÜBA Covid-19 Global Outbreak Special Award” with the project called “Phase Studies Examining the Safety and Immunogenicity of Two Different Strengths of Inactivated COVID-19 Vaccine ERUCOV-VAC, Given Twice Intramuscularly to Healthy Volunteers”.
Thanking Prof. Dr. Aykut Özdarendeli and his team for their devoted work in the studies of the domestic vaccine TURKOVAC, developed against COVID-19 by ERU, our Rector said: “Since the day the virus first appeared, Prof. Dr. Aykut Özdarendeli, his team and we worked devotedly. Since the first day, we have always believed that we will succeed. Our domestic vaccine TURKOVAC has been our greatest pride. On behalf of myself and our university, I congratulate Aykut Özdarendeli, deemed worthy of the “TÜBA Covid-19 Global Outbreak Special Award”, and thank his team for working devotedly”.
