English preparation class and the remaining four years cover
basic computer engineering education. There are four profes-
sors, five associate professors, six assistant professors and 12
research assistants in the computer engineering department.
The department accepted its first students in the fall semester
of 1995. In total 1461 students, including 478 women and 983
men, graduated since then. Each year 170 new students are
enrolling in the department. MA and Ph.D. education is also
         being offered in Computer Engineering.
The department has several laboratories so that students can
put their theoretical knowledge into practice and can develop
their practical abilities. These laboratories are Computer Labo-
ratory, Test Laboratory, Computer Networks Laboratory, Em-
bedded Systems Laboratory, Operating Systems Laboratory,
Image Processing Laboratory, Project Laboratory, Intelligence
Systems Laboratory, Big Data Research Laboratory, Control
Systems Laboratory, and Cyber Security Laboratory. The lab-
oratories are equipped with the new technologies and are
being used for several courses including computer program-
ming, operating systems, database management systems,
         embedded systems, etc.
         • Biomedical Engineering

The department of Biomedical Engineering was established
in 2007 and accepted its first students in the 2008-2009 aca-
demic year. There are now three full professors, two associate
professors and four assistant professors in the department.
Our department is the first biomedical engineering depart-
ment to be established within the state university system. The
department also runs a master’s degree program established
in 2008 and a doctorate program established in 2009.
In order to strengthen its academic staff, the department is
currently in the process of recruiting young researchers and
academics who received their academic degrees in biomedi-
cal engineering. Academic staff in the biomedical engineering
department with their graduate students contributes to sci-
ence with advanced level scientific research in the fields of bi-
omedical signal and image processing, biosensors, biomateri-
