• Energy Systems Engineering
The Energy Systems Engineering (ESE) department was es-
tablished in 2009, which is the second in Turkey, accepted
first bachelor and master’s degree students in the 2010-2011
academic year. Despite being a young department, ESE now
has four full professors, four assistant professors, and five re-
search assistants. Furthermore, the department has estab-
lished its Ph.D. program in 2011 and graduated the first ESE
Ph.D. student in the country. ESE now has over 500 enrolled
undergraduates and over 100 post-graduate students. Over
300 undergraduate and over 70 post graduated students have
completed their studies in the last 10 years. The department
was reorganized in 5 divisions in 2017 according to its core re-
search areas as follows: Nuclear Research, Renewable Energy
Systems, Thermal Science, Conventional Energy Systems and
Energy Planning and Management.
In terms of practical education and research, students and
researchers work in Electrical and Electronic Circuits Labora-
tory, Hydrogen Energy and Technologies Laboratory, Wind
