Our university organized a ceremony in front of the ERSEM Building for Kemas Raditya Rahman, an Indonesian student of our university who passed away due to falling ill in the past few days.
Our Rector Prof. Dr. Fatih Altun, our Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Oktay Özkan, Prof. Dr. M. Hakan Poyrazoğlu and Prof. Dr. Hakan Aydın, our Assistant Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Alper Afşın Cerit, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Indonesia in Kayseri Tahir Nursaçan, Kemas Raditya Rahman’s family and friends attended the ceremony.
Our Rector started his speech by wishing Allah’s mercy upon Kemas Raditya Rahman.
Stating that the student had just joined the Erciyes University family, our Rector said: “I was very sad after I heard the news. All of our students are entrusted to us. I wish we could have come together at a graduation ceremony, but we couldn’t. There’s nothing we can do. I wish patience to his family and friends. We always try to support you. May our student rest in peace.”
Making a speech on behalf of the Association of Indonesian Students in Kayseri, Ahmad Rafly Baihaqi wished Allah’s mercy upon Kemas Raditya Rahman and thanked the administration of Erciyes University and ERSEM officials for their support.
After the Recitation of the Holy Quran, our Rector and our Vice Rectors carried the student’s coffin on shoulders to the hearse.
Kemas Raditya Rahman, who achieved to enroll in the English Language Teaching Department of the ERU Faculty of Education and attended the Turkish Language preparatory program this year, was buried in Reşadiye Cemetery after the funeral prayer following the noon prayer in Talas Dedeoğlu Mosque.
