Panel on “Ahi-order with its Historical, Economic and Social Aspects”

Panel on “Ahi-order with its Historical, Economic and Social Aspects” was held at the Faculty of Letters Conference Hall within the scope of “2021 Ahi Evran Year” events.

Our Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Sıtkı İlkay, Dean of the Faculty of Letters Prof. Dr. Özen Tok, academicians and students attended the event.

Making the opening speech of the event, Prof. Dr. Özen Tok gave information about the panel.

Our Vice Rector Prof. İlkay said: “As Erciyes University, our duty is to sustain the Ahi culture at the present time and to contribute to the training of the youth loyal to these values. As it is known, Ahi Evran is known for both his scientific aspect and the values he brought to the Turkish and Islamic society. Ahi Evran is a great scholar and intellectual, who was regarded as the founder of 32 professions and the leader of artisans and craftsmen group in Anatolia. The Ahi organization has had a significant part in the formation and shaping of many social and economic institutions today, as well as guiding the social and economic life in the past. Ahi Evran guided social, economic and political life with the Ahi-order organization and played an important role in making Anatolia homeland and in the establishment of the Ottoman Empire and its being a world state. He was a profound scholar in the fields of tafsir, hadith, fıqh, kalām and medicine, and a high-ranking guardian on the path of Sufism.”

Following the opening speeches, Prof. Dr. Mehmet İnbaşı, Prof. Dr. Hava Selçuk and Prof. Dr. Muhittin Kapanşahin gave information to the participants about “Ahi-order with its Historical, Economic and Social Aspects”.
